Medical School 'Dreamers' Face Uncertainty With Trump

Jirayut "New" Latthivongskorn is the first undocumented student in the medical school at UCSF. Latthivongskorn was born in Bangkok and lived there for nine years before coming to the United States with his family to escape poverty and find a better life.

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program has allowed undocumented immigrants like Latthivongskorn to attend medical school for the first time. Now his future is in question, as president-elect Donald Trump has pledged to “immediately terminate” the program.

Mr. Trump is already under pressure from both sides, as Democrats and some Republicans push to keep protections for those who came to the U.S. as children.
